*Currently, Florida law allows children who are only 14 years old  to independently operate a personal watercraft (PWC).  The Tyler Scott Goldberg Foundation is working closely with government officials on the local, state and national level to change these laws to protect Florida’s children from the dangers associated with the operation of a PWC at such a young age.  For more information on model legislation,

*UPDATE- 3/29/08 Bill,  Senate #1192- drawn up to increase the minimum age for personal watercraft usage from 14 years old to 16 years old and revises the requirements relating to the boating safety course requirements has:

  • 1/18/08- Senate Filed Bill
  • 3/6/08- Bill passed by the Environmental Preservation and Conservation (6 YEAS 0 NAYS)
  • 3/18/08- Passed by Commerce (8 YEAS 1 NAYS)
  • 3/19/08- Bill now in General Government Appropriations
